Five Things Friday – #4

Holy cow you guys. This week has been so HOT. I’ve been trying to find more air-conditioned indoor activities for the kiddo, or early morning outings. The afternoons are topping 103 degrees and it’s just miserable. I have underboob sweat constantly… I love the summer but man, this is a bit much. Our #30in30challenge in my fitness group has been a bit more difficult since the heat set in. All I have to say is thank goodness for local splash pads. Okay, Five Things Friday begins now…


1. Nomie Pro App

I’m all about habit trackers. But what I’m not all about is the extensive time it can take to log each and every habit I’m working on. I tried it on paper and quickly forgot about it. I had tried some tracker apps in the past but they just didn’t feel as user-friendly as much as I wished they could be. Enter the FREE Nomie smartphone app. All I have to do is create the habits I want to work on, made from scratch or picked presets from their online community.  You can choose to tap a single button to log a habit completed (or not completed) for the day or measure attributes like your moods and energy levels. You can also assign positive or negative attributes to each habit as well to see you “rate” at the end of your day. It’s all extremely customizable, including the icons and colors and more. And what’s even cooler is that you can track your data in relation to other habits. Was I moody the day I refused to do laundry or brush my hair? This app can probably tell me.



2. Enlightened Sea Salt and Caramel Ice Cream Bars

With the heat being as horrible as it has been lately I’ve really been wanting a cool treat. I found these Enlightened Sea Salt Caramel Ice Cream Bars and they are pretty amazing. I found them at my local HEB store. For the macros, they are pretty darn amazing. 80 calories, 7g protein, and 5g sugar. Fixes my sweet tooth instantly. Bam.



3. High-Rise Go Dry Compression Capris from Old Navy 

No joke, these workout capris are the most amazing leggings I’ve ever worn to the gym. I love that they have a high waist so they never roll down. As a mom with some extra tummy, the jiggle can get a bit uncomfortable for me during strenuous cardio, but these capris offer a gentle compression that helps keep everything in place. The fabric is squat-proof, moisture-wicking, and comes in some super cute patterns. The regular price is very reasonable at around $30 but if you wait for their big sales you can get them way cheaper. Seriously. The. Best. Workout. Leggings. Especially for dem thick thighs.




4. Perfectly Posh

If you follow me on Instagram Stories, you will know I’ve decided to become a Perfectly Posh consultant. Now, hear me out. I’m not big into direct sales and have poo-pooed a lot of MLM diet/fitness companies in the past because they really are rip-offs. But when I found Posh, I felt like it was the perfect opportunity to help other women embrace the practice of self-care rituals. Trust me, I’m not in it for the money. If I really needed a steady income, a direct sales company would not be my first choice, nor would blogging, haha. But I like Posh products, mostly because they are eco-friendly, cruelty-free, and contain no fillers. You can expect me to highlight a few Posh items every now and then on my FTF posts (because I think some of their products really are the best on the market for the price). I may do a few product reviews every now and then as well, but I promise I won’t saturate the blog with all POSH POSH POSH.




5. Wait, Wait… Don’t Tell Me Podcast

Sunday mornings are usually very relaxing around here. Once the whole family wakes, I like to cook breakfast while listening to the latest “Wait, Wait… Don’t Tell Me” podcast from NPR. It’s a great way to catch up on news from the week while adding in some good laughs. It’s a news quiz that “uses current stories (from the global to the ridiculous) for questions and comedy.” NPR offers a lot of impressive podcasts and this one is one of our favorites.

    1. Aw, you found me! Yay! I started this blog a loooong time ago and have just recently started actively posting as a way to stay sane, hehe. The MFM group is helping with that TONS as well! I'm so thankful you started that group.
