Hey everyone. It's KrysAnn here with Five Things Friday! How has your week been? I hope it's been awesome. Hubs was out of town for the week so I've been working my tail off chasing the toddler around and teaching more classes at the Y. Rewarding, but tiring for sure. Thankfully Hubs came home late last night and I think he owes me a nice dinner or something because I'm exhausted. Major kudos to you single and/or working moms out there. You are absolute superheroes and deserve all of the wine and chocolate you desire.
Here we go!
1. OXO Good Grips Salad Chopper and Bowl
I've been debating getting one of these salad choppers for a while now. Now I'm wishing I had gotten one sooner. I tried using a pizza cutter and a bowl for a while but it was more effort than it was worth. The OXO Good Grips Salad Chopper (aff link) comes with two large blades to do twice the cutting in half the time. I've found it to chop just about everything with ease, except for large, hard veg like carrots. You may need to slice those up a bit before throwing them in. But overall it does an amazing job, and quickly! And yes, this is basically the same setup they use at Subway!
2. My Magic Mud Activated Charcoal Toothpaste
I haven't completely replaced my regular fluoride toothpaste with this My Magic Mud Activated Charcoal Toothpaste (aff link), however, I am trying to use it once a day. The wintergreen flavor is okay, but the xylitol taste is very strong, so for anyone who doesn't like the taste of fake sweeteners, this may not be your first choice. I do love the charcoal and bentonite clay components. Not only is it fun to make your teeth look like they belong to some nasty pirate, the bentonite clay and charcoal are also effective and safe tooth whiteners. Just don't ingest it. I also want to try the cinnamon clove flavor. I think that one might be a better flavor, and clove is good for the gums. Will keep you posted. I don't have any before/after pics since I just started using this, but the charcoal I've used in the past worked great, so I'm hoping this does, too.
3. New Fabletics Salar High-Waist Capri Leggings in "Fossil"
I've had a credit hanging around in my Fabletics account for a while now and I've been meaning to use it when the right outfit came along. This month was it. I came across this ridiculously gorgeous print (called "Fossil") on the Salar capri. The outfit came with a Cass top, too (not pictured, but it's a great lightweight top). The high-waist isn't as compressive as my all-time favorite Old Navy leggings, but this print made me overlook that detail. I just can't stand how gorgeous these leggings are!
4. The Avo Saver
I'm all about multi-purpose kitchen gadgets but this is not one of those. It does one thing, but it does it so well I had to share. I've owned this avocado saver (aff link) for over three years and it has always kept our avocado halves fresh until the next serving. The soft and adjustable strap keeps your avocado snug and away from the air. It's worth every penny if you are like this family and eat avocados often.
5. New Vial Lip Color from Perfectly Posh
I've been a big LipSense lover for a while now, and I still am. But when I heard that Perfectly Posh was introducing their own long-lasting lip color called Vial Lip Shade, I had to try it. The kit comes with a clear base coat, which is what the color adheres to. Unlike LipSense, this color can come off with any oil-based product. So be careful when eating soup or salad. But otherwise, this color has lasted as long as I have wanted it to (about 4-6 hours) without reapplying. The colors are super pigmented and this product doesn't "sting" like LipSense does. And it makes my lips feel very moisturized. Here I am wearing "Don't Make Me Blush". I also ordered the "Beyond the Pale" color but sadly it doesn't work well with my yellow undertone, so I plan on mixing it with another color for a look that is more flattering.
